It's sad but I really feel that nobody respects the local police around here, I know I dont.

well in my opinon if you act like a dumbass like that dude did and put a life of any public servant (ex. Fire-Rescue , Police) you should be stoped with any means nessecary. BTW that guy you were talking about was drunk and driving at the same time all of that happened.

In the past couple of years the segment of our community most likely to commit a serious crime is in fact....drum roll.....police officer.

No joke

Take the total number of serious crimes committed in Wise county over the past few years, divide that into the population of Wise County and get a percentage.

Then take the total number of offences committed by officers: Rape, drug dealing, burglary, firearm violations, child porn, Voter fraud, payroll fraud, strong arm robbery, perjury dui while on duty, etc. and divide that into the number of officers in the county and you get a higher percentage than for the general population.

It's been a few months back that I did the research, but the percentage is actually about 300% higher.

Now understand that I'm not anti police. I am anti corruption, and especially anti corruption when it come to those who are suppose to be maintaining the standards of law and order.

Well, you have the former chief of Pennington facing some serious allegations, the former chief of Jonesville facing allegations, the chief of Damascus dealing drugs from the police station, two local Tn. Sheriffs accused of child rape! Two Chilhowie area officers accused of child rape.

I'm not bringing all this up in an attempt to discredit all police officers.

BUT! There is clearly a problem. There is clearly a serious problem, and nothing seems to be getting done to change the environment that allowed for these situations to occur.

i believe that has to do with the local town hiring people who are not properly trained and have a repect for the job.
i agree with ya gotch about that crap. What i think is really scary is in towns some cops that they have hired carry guns without going through the academy.
Im not owrried about some cops that this applies to but some I am.
And the stuff mentioned before is not a capital offence but damn near close to one.
